Le Mont-Dore
Le Mont-Dore is a town in the Puy-de-Dôme department in the Auvergne region with about 1,450 inhabitants.
The town is located at an altitude of 1,050 metres in the Dordogne valley. The Dordogne has its origin just outside Le Mont-Dore, where the mountain streams the Dore and the Dogne get together.
The Puy de Sancy is visible from almost everywhere in town, and at 1885 metres it is the highest mountain of the Massif Central. The presence of this volcano not only makes Le Mont-Dore a health resort but also a welcoming ski resort. In wintertime Le Mont-Dore offers alpine and cross country skiing as well as snowshoeing.

In summer time Le Mont-Dore is an ideal starting point for hikers, cyclists and rock climbers. Alternatively you can relax at the lakes of Lac Chambon and Lac Servière or at one of the inviting terraces in the town itself. It is also possible to discover the area with a picnic basket full of wonderful local food.
Because of the proximity of a motorway Le Mont-Dore is also easy accessible.
