Outdoor activities
There are many activities to be done in summertime. What about swimming in Lac Chambon or Lac Servière? Lovers of pedalo's, canoeing, windsurfing or sailing could pay Lac d'Aydat, Lac des Hermines or Lac Chambon a visit.
Spectacular for children and adults is the adventure parc of Mont-Dore Aventures. Routes of varied levels go from tree top to tree trop in the heart of the Capucin forest, above Le Mont-Dore.
An adventure parc can also be found in Saint-Nectaire. The track of Saint-Nectaire Aventures also has a Via Ferrata.
The Sancy plateau offers many possibilities for rock climbers, especially in the Chaudefour valley with the “Crète du Coq” and the fearsome “Dent de la Rancune”. Routes are also available at Le Mont-Dore (Capucin and Verrou) and at Lac Pavin (Besse).
The area of Les Camélias also offers many possibilities to horse riders. Les Ecuries de la Dordogne in Le Mont-Dore organises the whole year round tours through the Parc des Volcans. In summer season an introduction course for 6 to 12 year olds is organised.
The Sancy plateau can also be admired from the air. For instance, with a paraglider or hot air balloon tour.
Tired of all the outdoors activities? In Le Mont-Dore there is also a casino, a bowling alley, an ice rink and a covered jeux-de-boule area.
