Winter sports in the Auvergne
The Auvergne is also a great place to be in wintertime. Our accommodation in Le Mont-Dore is in winter an excellent starting point. Just think of skiing on a volcano, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
Le Mont-Dore is a lovely place to be after skiing relaxing in numerous cafés and restaurants where one can enjoy specialties from the Auvergne region.
Les Camélias has a heated storage room for winter sport equipment. There are several places in Le Mont-Dore where skies, cross country materials and raquettes (for snowshoeing) can be hired.
During wintertime many activities are put on, from 18 until 25 February 2012 the Sancy Snow Jazz Festival will take place.
And on 22 January 2012 the Trail Hivernal du Sancy is being organised; a 12,5 or 19 mile of running over snow covered trails. Les Camélias is an official partner of this competition. Below a nice impression of the Trail Hivernal.
